Edward
C. "Tacker" LeCarpentier, III, a licensed North Carolina
attorney of 16 years, is the current Director of Annuities and Structured
Products for Lawyers Insurance Agency/Lawyers Structured Settlements,
a subsidiary of Lawyers Mutual Liability Company of North Carolina.
Lawyers Mutual insures approximately 80% of the practicing private
attorneys in the State of North Carolina and over 2500 Georgia attorneys
through its Georgia Lawyers Insurance Company subsidiary.
From
1993 to 2005, Mr. LeCarpentier practiced with the Raleigh insurance
defense firm of Cranfill Summer & Hartzog, LLP, where he was
a partner and head of the firm's Appellate Section. In addition
to his appellate work, he concentrated his legal practice in medical
malpractice defense, catastrophic loss cases, and ERISA litigation.
He
is a 1980 graduate of the Episcopal High School of Alexandria, Virginia,
a 1985 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill,
and a 1991 graduate of the Wake Forest University School of Law.
From 1991 to 1993, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable James
G. Exum, Jr., then Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of North Carolina.
In
2005, Mr. LeCarpentier left private practice to co-found the first
company in the country devoted to the new structured sales product.
He was President of the start-up from August 2005 until he joined
the Lawyers Insurance Agency on September 1, 2006. His offices are
at the North Carolina Bar Center in Cary.
